What the drive is actually like
Many pilgrims land at Jeddah but start their journey in Madinah. It is a 420 km drive north, roughly four hours on good highway with one rest stop built in. It is a long stretch to do in a compact car after an international flight, so this is the one route where we quietly suggest sizing up a vehicle class.
The driver plans a stop at a proper service area with clean facilities and a prayer room, usually around the halfway mark near Rabigh. If a prayer time falls during the drive he will stop for it — just tell him.
Same rules as every other route: the fare is fixed for the whole vehicle, it does not change if your flight is late, and you pay when you arrive at your Madinah hotel.
