About this journey
What the drive is actually like
Taif is where the Prophet ﷺ was rejected and then offered the destruction of the city, and answered with mercy. Visiting it is a quiet, sobering counterweight to the crowds of the Haram.
The day takes in the climb up the Al Hada escarpment, Masjid Abdullah bin Abbas, Shubra Palace, the rose distilleries in season, and Al Shafa for the mountain air and the fruit stalls. The cable car is optional and paid separately.
Around eight hours door to door from Makkah. Best from March to May when the roses are in bloom.
